Feasibility Studies

Feasibility Studies

It is quite common for clients to have aspirations that do not match their budgets or unrealistic expectations of what can be achieved for their budget. Experience has taught us that Feasibility Studies are an invaluable method of refining the clients brief to match their budget with a tangible design, and a budget estimate based on that design.

The Feasibility Study consists of a measured building survey and/or topographical survey for renovation & extension works and a topographical land survey for new build projects on green sites. (simple building surveys can be undertaken by us, but not complex buildings or topographical surveys which are undertaken by specialist Land Surveyors)A computer 3D model of the existing building or site is produced from the survey data, the outputs from the model are required as part of any future planning application, in addition to being the base model from which any design proposal is generated.

Feasibility Studies

A 3D computer model of a Conceptual design proposal is generated based on the clients written brief, and any restrictions highlighted by survey information. The Conceptual design can then be budget cost estimated either by a QS or building contractor. On receipt of a budget cost estimate, clients can then decide whether or not it is feasible to proceed to the next stage.  A Feasibility Study is offered by Ian Black Architect as a Partial Service or as part (Stage 1) of Full Architectural Service.
