Most renovation & extension projects undertaken by Ian Black Architect start off with the same  set of challenges, which is to renovate to retain the integrity of the existing building and extend  not in a ‘pastiche’ manner  whereby the extension tries to look like the original building, but has its own architectural identity and is ‘of its time‘.
